Marzipan, Mothering and a bit of light refreshment.

Updated: Apr 3, 2021

Dear All Saints and St Marys This week we see a little bit of light refreshment! Mothering Sunday is typically celebrated at a mid way point in Lent. It is a time of light relief when we join in celebrating together in a slightly different way. It was traditionally called Mothering Sunday as young people, often working in those pre 1st World War in large houses, would return to their Mother Church, and their families, at this time in Lent. It is sometimes accompanied with a Simnel Cake. All that MARZIPAN! This year, we will be marking Mothering Sunday in a slightly different way, but I hope a celebratory way as well. We will be concentrating on the themes of nurture, a gift that we can all enable and inhabit. To do this at both All Saints and St Marys we will have a chance to pot our own bulbs and take that away to see how we can nurture them so that it flowers later in the year. We can take these to others who cannot join us physically. A chance to get “hands on” in different and Covid safe ways. SO – THIS SUNDAY – MOTHERING SUNDAY 14th MARCH 8amAll Saints - Simple Said Holy Communion – Live stream https://youtu.be/5VwqUUoIFE4 10am – St Marys - A very simple (no sermon) all age said service with an outdoor blessing of the pots. 3pm – All Saints - A Spot of gardening in the grounds followed at 4.15pm by a simple service of Blessing of the Pots. *Please bring some of your own tools to the gardening session at All Saints.

*St Marys has also recently re installed its children’s corner and it is looking AMAZING – so a huge thanks to the team led by Laura for getting that sorted before Sunday.

*Both the 10am and the 3pm will be led in such as way as to include our children as much as possible and as Covid regulations allow.
